Invitation for Radboud New Frontiers event on 1 and 2 November 2018

On 1 and 2 November the 12th edition of the Radboud New Frontiers will take place at Radboudumc in Nijmegen.

Big data, better healthcare?

The first day (1 November) will begin with an inspiring peek into the future promise of big data applications to healthcare, followed by several high quality examples of applications of data science. Of course, there will also be attention for key methodological aspects/principles of data science.

This part of the day will be completed with an integrated overview of healthcare data science: how can we turn the promise into realistic results?

The second part of the day will explore the boundaries of big data and healthcare data science from a technical, ethical and clinical perspective through introductory talks and a debate with all speakers (+ voting with smartphone).

This first day is in English and has researchers from a broad range of disciplines as its target group. You can submit an abstract for the poster session.

Betere zorg, netwerkzorg?

The second day of the Frontiers symposium, on 2 November 2018, will deal with the complexities of network care. The question will be answered whether less structure and better connections lead to better care for patients.

This day will be organized for healthcare stakeholders (professionals, policy makers, insurers, patients) as well as healthcare researchers, and will be in Dutch.

Unfortunately Gerjan Kemperman from Chemconnection had to cancel for business reasons. Fortunately Ypke van Oosterhout from Xenikos is willing to inform us on the next steps after securing an investment of 30 million U.S. dollars to advance the development of Xenikos’ lead compound: T-Guard. Xenikos B.V. is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company, developing innovative new immunotherapies, based on conjugated antibodies, designed to improve patient health and quality of life. Currently they are developing a novel therapy for treating acute graft-versus-host disease (aGVHD).

Floris van Delft will focus on “Antibody-Drug Conjugates with Improved Therapeutic Index Based on GlycoConnect™ and HydraSpace™ Technologies”.Formed in 2010, Synaffix BV is a Netherlands-based biotechnology company exclusively focused on continued advancement of their best-in-class antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) technology platform. As a leading innovator in the field of ADCs their vision is to become the preferred partner in the development of these complex biological therapeutics and realize their ambition – connect to cure.

InnoBoot 2018 @ StartUpDelta Summit in Arnhem

Op 19 april vindt een speciale lustrumeditie van InnoBoot plaats op de StartupDelta Summit op het IPKW terrein in Arnhem. Programma

InnoBootsessie: Data science van theorie naar praktijk
15:00-16:00 (Gele Dome)
Verzamel, bewerk of analiseer jij grote dataverzamelingen? Of ben je op zoek naar data science kennis? Kom dan naar deze innobootsessie, waar verschillende start-ups uitleggen wat zij doen op het gebied van dataverwerking en hoe ze samenwerken met het nieuwe Data Science Centre van de Radboud Universiteit en het Radboudumc.

InnoBootsessie: Business Meets Science
16:00-17:00 (Gele Dome)
Veel start-ups hebben problemen met het samenwerken met kennisinstellingen. Hoe kom je bij de juiste persoon terecht? Hoe krijg je überhaupt mogelijkheden samen te werken met kennisinstellingen? In deze sessie zullen Briskr, Hogeschool van Arnhem en Nijmegen, Radboud Universiteit en Radboudumc laten zien wat de mogelijkheden zijn die door start-ups benut kunnen worden.

InnoBootsessie: Groene Chemie voor een duurzame omgeving
17:00-18:00 (Floating Future room)
Door onze manier van leven en werken is er een weinig duurzame situatie ontstaan. Hier moet wat aan gedaan worden. Daarom zijn de 12 principes van Groene Chemie opgesteld waarvan een aantal (o.a. afvalreductie en hernieuwbare materialen) voor elke ondernemer interessant zijn. Om u te inspireren zullen we een kijkje geven in de ontwikkelingen die op dit gebied gaande zijn en laten ondernemers zien hoe zij Groene Chemie in de praktijk toepassen.

Strategische sessie: ‘Wat als faciliteiten en open data voor startups goed vindbaar zouden zijn?’

Er zijn diverse publieke faciliteiten en diensten beschikbaar voor startups, maar weten startups wel waar ze deze kunnen vinden? In onze sessie matchen we de vraag van startups met het aanbod van de faciliteiten en diensten die de publieke organisaties aanbieden. Vervolgens dagen we jullie uit om structurele oplossingen te bedenken voor het matchmaking en om eventuele gaten tussen vraag en aanbod te dichten.

Event ‘Bescherm uw digitale innovaties’ 3 april 2018

Over de bescherming van digitale innovaties doen de wildste verhalen de ronde. Wilt u weten hoe het écht zit? En hoe u geld kunt verdienen met de juiste bescherming van uw digitale innovatie? Kom op dinsdagmiddag 3 april naar het gratis event ‘Bescherm uw digitale innovaties’ in het provinciehuis in Zwolle.

Het event is voor alle innovatieve ondernemers die werken aan apps, big data, algoritmes, smart systems en internet of things.

12.30 uur – 13.00 uur : Ontvangst met inlooplunch en infomarkt van landelijke en regionale intermediairs, zoals Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland, Benelux Bureau voor de Intellectuele Eigendom, Kamer van Koophandel, Oost NL, Kennispoort Regio Zwolle en Novel-T.
13.00 uur – 13.50 uur : Start plenair programma, onder energieke leiding van Theo Föllings, manager Business Development bij Oost NL, met onder andere korte presentaties van:
• Alfred Peterson, hoofd Eenheid Economie en Cultuur, provincie Overijssel over een toekomstproof bedrijfsleven door digitale innovaties
• Adri Wischmann, innovatieadviseur bij Kennispoort Drenthe, over de mogelijkheden van blockchain voor uw bedrijf

Subsessies
Elke sessie is een mix van inhoudelijke expertise van Octrooicentrum Nederland en praktijkervaringen van ondernemers en specialisten. U kunt twee van de volgende vier subsessies bijwonen:

  1. Open innovatie en de bescherming van digitale uitvindingen
    Deze quickscan geeft u een introductie in veelvoorkomende beschermingsvormen zoals auteursrecht, patenten, bedrijfsgeheimen en databankenrecht. Daarnaast geeft expert Ronald Jansen van Innovation-Circle, op basis van zijn ervaringen bij diverse softwarebedrijven, zijn visie op de rol van intellectueel eigendom bij open innovatie.
  2. Auteursrecht of patent op software?
    Over het beschermen van software bestaan veel misverstanden. In deze subsessie hoort u wat de criteria zijn voor verschillende beschermingsvormen. Als praktijkvoorbeeld beschrijft Peter Philippens van IdeAtics zijn ervaringen met het aanvragen van een softwarepatent.
  3. Slim verdienen aan digitale innovatie
    Omdat patenten vragen vaak om flinke investeringen is het belangrijk om strategische keuzes te maken, zeker bij digitale innovaties. In deze subsessie krijgt u inzicht hoe u geld kunt verdienen door slimme keuzes te maken op het gebied van patenteren, geheimhouden of vrijgeven, passend bij uw innovatie én bedrijf. Marco Bosch van Sustainder vertelt over de afwegingen en keuzes van zijn bedrijf.
  4. Masterclass softwarepatenten
    Octrooigemachtigden Arjan van der Maarl van Gemeas Patents en Erik Visscher van De Vries en Metman, gespecialiseerd in softwarepatenten, vertellen over het technisch effect en de grenzen bij het patenteren van software. Daarnaast krijgt u kort de gelegenheid om te toetsen of u uw type ICT-uitvinding kunt beschermen met een patent.

Op vrijdag 13 april a.s. vindt op Novio Tech Campus de eerste Fysio-Xperience plaats: hét festival vol innovatie en technologische ontwikkelingen die het vakgebied van de fysiotherapie nu, maar ook in de toekomst gaan ondersteunen. Fysiotherapeuten, studenten, onderzoekers en ondernemers kunnen zich laten uitdagen door sprekers en entertainers op het gebied van techniek en (beweeg)zorg, e-health- en sensor-toepassingen, Virtual Reality in de revalidatie, Topsport Experience, on-line trainingstools, biohacking, (digitale) zorginnovatie, en nog veel meer… Doel is samen de interactie tussen mens en machine te ervaren. En wie een goed idee heeft, kan meedingen naar de Innovatie Award!

In this month’s SMB meeting we focused on the theme ‘From research into reality’. Thank you Bram den Teuling from Orikami and Margot van der Doelen from Digital Health Center for presenting and inspiring the audience.

 

We learned how big data will help innovations in Healthcare and how the supply and demand for innovations in Healthcare can be connected and tested more efficiently. We look back on a very inspiring event!

Next up were 4 Radboud University Bachelor student groups (Innovation Science course) who presented their own innovations. A great way to learn how to pitch and to make use of the audience’s views & networks!

Bram den Teuling will present Orikami, a Nijmegen based company that helps clients to discover hidden patterns in (big) data and capitalize on these insights by delivering a usable, well-embedded data product and/or personalized healthcare. For example the MS app.

The reality of working with Digital Health will be described by Margot van der Doelen from Digital Health Center. Their mission is to make new technologies more easily accessible and available to those who need it in mental healthcare and youth care. And to exploit the potential of technological innovation from a client perspective by performing a continuous market scan and using a living lab to test new products.

We have kicked off the new year of network meetings with one of our favorite themes: ‘sharing experiences’ and look back on a very inspiring event.

Thank you Huib Schut (Noviospin) and Samir Raut (Arenar), for informing us about your innovation and personal journey in entrepreneurship and sharing not only your achievements, but also your challenges along the way!

We learned that silk is not only used for clothes/lingerie and can be degradeable as well (luckily only when used for meshes!) and that sleep rejuvinates our body, but dreams rejuvinate our mind.
